(Samuel) James Crisp was one of five sons of Mr and Mrs S. J. Crisp, of 12 Godwin Road Bromley, three of whom were serving in his Majesty’s Forces.

James was a driver in the Royal Army Service Corps.  He went to the Bickley and Widmore School and afterwards was employed as chauffeur-gardener at Bickley.

His brothers were John, Charles, Ronald and Leonard Crisp
